Tweening

Making Life Easier

For certain tasks Image Ready reduces some of the burden of frame by frame animating by using “Tweening” to build animation sequences. To recreate the animation of the red circle crossing the page without manually moving the shape, do the following.

  • Set up a new document in the same way as before, and draw a small red circle into layer 1 so that it is visible in frame 1. Position to the left of the document.

  • Add a new frame and drag the circle across the document so that it is at the right-hand side.

  • Click back in frame 1. Click on the small arrow to the top right of the Animation palette (shown below) and from the drop-down menu select Tween…

  • In the dialogue box select All Layers, Position, Tween with Next Frame and 8 as the number of new frames to add (shown below).

When OK is clicked, 8 new frames are added in between the two existing frames in the Animation palette. On each frame the circle has moved by a few pixels, so creating the same effect that was created manually in the earlier example.
